01 February 2010, Singapore - The Asian Food Channel (AFC) the region’s first and only 24-hour food channel is proud to announce the premiere of its self-made original production in high-definition showcasing AFC’s resident chef and Asia’s favourite culinary genius, Chef Wan.
‘Best Wan’ – a 13 part series premiering exclusively on AFC is a natural pairing of Chef Wan’s extensive culinary knowledge and AFC’s skill in creating quality food programming and broadcasting them regionally. The series will feature Chef Wan in his element and celebrate the best of his enticing creations over his twenty-year career as an entertaining TV chef.
Commenting on the launch of the third AFC original production, Maria Brown, Co-Founder and Managing Director of AFC, said: “People know and love Chef Wan and we see a show like this as preserving a slice of Asian food heritage. This is important to us and something we are very passionate about - for AFC to create a definitive encyclopedia of classic Pan-Asian recipes and make them accessible for our viewers across the region.”
Viewers will be able to catch the first one-hour special this Chinese New Year exclusively on AFC. The show will feature Chef Wan preparing a variety of delectable recipes to brighten up everyone’s New Year – ranging from delicious Emperor's Fried Sea Bass with Raisins and Mango to a steaming dish of Chilli Crab, and a mountain of Fragrant Fried Prawns served with the chef's specialty, Yu Sheng, a raw fish salad. All recipes featured in this special have been tested by AFC’s team of in-house chefs and can be found on AFC’s recipe database.
The ‘Best Wan’ original documentary series was shot exclusively by AFC at the AFC Kitchen Studio over a duration of one month. It is Chef Wan’s first ever series shot fully in high definition and filmed in English, will ensure viewers maximum accessibility to his cuisine.
A household name in Malaysia, Redzuawan bin Ismail, better known as Chef Wan, has been featured in various cooking programmes, delighting audiences with his wit and humour while demonstrating his cooking skills and passion for the cuisine industry.
Tune in to ‘Best Wan – A CNY Special’ on Sunday 14 February 2010 at 9pm for a feast of recipes to celebrate this Chinese New Year. The 10-part ‘Best Wan’ series will premiere exclusively on AFC in June 2010. Two one-hour specials will air on Hari Raya and Christmas 2010.
