An accountant turned celebrity chef with more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Chef Wan is a household name in Asia. His talents range from chef, author and actor to TV host and publisher, just to name a few.
Starting his career in finance, Chef Wan gave up the corporate world for a career in the kitchen and he hasn’t looked back since.
Today, Chef Wan is the ‘Food Ambassador of Malaysia’, representing his country in various worldwide gourmet events, world expos and tourism exhibitions. With his extensive knowledge of Malaysian cuisine, Chef Wan has been invited to perform demonstrations and talks in different parts of the world such as China, Germany and Europe.
At the World Gourmet Food and Media Awards in Beijing, Chef Wan won the Lifetime Jury Award at the “Le Mazille Prix” 2007 Gourmand for his contributions as the culinary ambassador for Malaysia to the world.
With many cookbooks published and more on the way, Chef Wan is also a food critic for the major dailies and magazines in Malaysia. If that is not enough, this chef has also played lead and supporting roles in various films and theatre, earning him a nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at the 13th Asian Film Festival for his performance in ‘Valley of Vengeance’.
He has published a total of eight books, which have earned him a number of prestigious awards.
