If you’re struck by a hunger only a buffet can satisfy, you’ll want to be at the Michelin Guide Street Food Festival at Resorts World Sentosa.

That’s where we’ll join over 3000 hungry gourmands for three days, feasting on 15 of the best local and international food picked by the world’s toughest tastemaker.

Starting from just S$3, delight in signature dishes of 15 Michelin Guide selections -  including 2-star Chinese Szechuan restaurant Shisen Hanten, one-star Australian barbecue eatery Burnt Ends, and dozens of other Michelin-marked establishments.

Also featured are restaurants honoured with two other coveted Michelin tags – the Michelin Bib Gourmand and Michelin Plate. They include Spanish restaurant Ola Cocina del Mar and Japanese Yakitori restaurant Toritama Shirokane.

The Bib Gourmand accolade, which Michelin has been handing out since 1955, means that the eatery offers “excellent food at modest prices”. The Michelin Plate recognition refers to “fresh ingredients, carefully prepared; a good meal”.

But it’s not just international cuisine, there’s some great local fare too. You get to taste well-loved hawker food including the legendary Bak Chor Mee from Tai Wah Pork Noodle, newly listed with a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2018.

Also one to sink your teeth in is the golden brown curry puffs from Rolina Traditional Hainanese Curry Puff, and Putu Piring, or steamed rice cakes with palm sugar from Traditional Haig Road Putu Piring.

Already, all regular-priced tickets at S$30 are sold out, but you can get a VIP one at S$200 here.  

It might be steep, but the price gets you a bite-sized portion of food from all stalls, a glass of wine and beer, premium water, and you’ll be seated and served at a special area reserved for ticket-holders like yourself.
Plus, it’s free for those aged six and below.

Other nibbles on hand include favourites like The Golden Duck, LiHO TEA and Japanese green tea brand Tsujiri.

1.     Burnt Ends (1 Michelin star)

This one-star Australian barbecue restaurant fires up their meat using coal, apple or almond wood, so that what you taste is a nicely lingering smoky whiff on juicy, grilled or seared meat.

Drool for their premium slow-roasted Char Siew, or roasted pork slices. It’s no simple feat to create the sweet, smoky flavours - over 30 ingredients are used in its making.

  1. Ji Ji Wonton Noodle (Michelin Plate)

Unlike most wonton noodles, zero ghee is used in the hawker stall’s best-selling item. Daily, snaking queues form for their juicy prawn dumplings, chewy noodles and crispy crackers – all in one dish.

  1. Maguro-Donya Miura-Misaki-Kou (Michelin Plate)

From ocean to plate, the Japanese restaurant oversees the entire process. This means they are the wholesaler, and chef and restaurateur. Tuna, or “Maguro” as it’s known in Japan is their star dish here, and they use tuna in every delicious way like otoro (fatty), chutoro and akami (lean).

  1. Ola Cocina del Mar (Michelin Plate)

Sustainably-sourced simple and tasty fare. Supporters of this Spanish place love tying their food with wine to bring out the “oomph”. The star dish, Iberico Pork Paella is touted as a “must-have”, for its juicy and intensely flavoured Iberico pork, paired subtle hints of roasted garlic.

  1. Rang Mahal (Michelin Plate)

Think of this name and fine Indian cuisine comes to mind. Your classic orders - tandoori, butter chicken, naan, and delicately plated sweet Indian desserts are worth a try. But it’s not all classic, a light modern taste creeps into its cooking, spear-headed by contemporary Indian culinary genius Milind Sovani.

  1. Tai Wah Pork Noodle (Bib Gourmand)

Pork Noodle or Bak Chor Mee seems to be quite a hit with Michelin Guide inspectors. Yet another one to be given the Michelin-mark, the two-brothers hawker stall is worth your wait – an average ten minutes wait. Fans love its springy, well-mixed noodles generously paired with what they describe as an “irresistible mix of chilli, vinegar and lard”. Try it for yourself.

  1. Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao (Michelin Plate)

Pair steamy, juicy pork-filled xiao long baos  or XLBs, with a spoonful of tangy vinegar for a punch of flavours. Some say the dumplings here are even on par with a very popular Taiwanese chain.
