Spicy Sauteed Crab

Spicy Sauteed Crab

Ingredients
  • 2 whole crabs
  • 15 g bak kut teh spice packet
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ Tbsp soy sauce
  • Thickener (½ Tbsp cornstarch, 1 Tbsp of water)
Chef's Tip
  • Mud crabs are recommended for this recipe but any kinds of crabs will do too
Method

Remove top shell and portion the crab

Remove the top shell by pulling it apart from the body and cut them up into pieces.


Stir-fry the garlic and crab

Heat the wok on medium heat. Add butter, followed by garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds.

Add in the crab meat and fry.


Boil the crab and season

Boil the crab and season

Add in 2 cups of water and ½ Tbsp soy sauce, followed by the spice packet. Cover the lid and put on high heat. Once it’s boiling, lower the heat.


Thicken the sauce

Thicken the sauce

Once the crab turns red, give the wok a stir, then add in all of the thickener.


Garnish and serve

Garnish with spring onion and serve while hot!
