Also known as ‘jemput jemput pisang’, these deep-fried banana fritter balls are a sweet treat!

Let's start cooking!

Mash bananas with a fork in a bowl to make banana batter for fritter balls

Step 1 - Mix banana batter

  • In a mixing bowl, add mashed banana, plain flour, rice flour, 2 tbsp sugar, ½ tsp baking soda and ½ tsp salt and mix well.
    For best results, use overripe bananas, as they are sweeter.
  • In the same bowl, fold in diced banana.

Step 2 - Fry banana balls

  • In a pot on medium heat, fill ½ the pot with vegetable oil.
To know if oil is hot, take a chopstick or spatula and dip into the oil. If there are bubbles surrounding it, it is hot enough for deep-frying.
  • Using Two metal spoons, scoop 1 heaped tbsp of batter, and drop into the hot oil. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until golden brown. Leave to drain on paper towels and repeat with remaining batter.
Dipping the metal spoons into oil also prevents batter from sticking to the spoons.
Goes great with vanilla or gula melaka ice cream.
