Eight Treasures Rice
Celebrate this Lunar New Year with our Eight Treasures Rice, also known as 黄金八宝饭(huang jin ba bao fan), for your family!
Let's start cooking!
Step 1 - Boil the rice, mushrooms, red dates and oyster
- Heat up 2 cups water in a claypot on low heat.When the water is warm, add rice into the claypot, along with the shiitake mushrooms, red dates and the dried oyster. Cover with the lid and leave to boil.
Step 2 - Boil the lupcheong
- Once the rice is cooked, place the lupcheong into the pot and cover the lid on low heat for about 20 minutes.
Step 3 - Mix the pumpkin and rice
- Mix in the mashed pumpkin with the rice.
Step 4 - Cook the bok choy, bak kwa and pork floss
- After which, put the bok choy and bak kwa in. Finally, pour in the pork floss and wait for 3 minutes.
Prepare the sauce, mix and serve!
Mix ½ tbsp dark soy sauce, 1 tsp light soy sauce, ½ tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tsp sugar and 1 tbsp oil in a small bowl, before pouring in into the claypot to mix evenly. Serve hot!
