Five Spiced Fried Chicken
Spice up your kitchen with a Chinese-inspired fried chicken!

Step 1 - Cut chicken
- Using a knife, make a slit in the chicken drumsticks. The slit should be deep enough to hit the bone.
Step 2 - Marinate Chicken
Marinate with Chinese five spice powder, minced garlic, 4 Tbsp light soy sauce, 2 Tbsp white vinegar, ½ Tsp of salt, ½ Tsp coarse black pepper and ½ Tsp sugar for at least 1 hour.Chinese five spices consist of star anise (bajiao å «è§), cloves (dingxiang ä¸é¦), Chinese cinnamon (rougui èæ¡), Sichuan pepper (huajiao è±æ¤) and fennel seeds (xiao huixiang å°è´é¦)
Preheat oven to 170°C.
Step 3 - Bake chicken
- Place marinated chicken drumsticks onto a baking tray and bake at 170°C for 15 to 20 minutes until cooked. To add flavor and save time, you may marinate the chicken the night before
Plate and serve!
Place chicken drumsticks together on a serving plate. Serve hot.
