Ingredients

Thinly sliced beef cooked in a perfectly seasoned sauce, over a bed of fluffy Japanese rice. Yum!

Ginger, sake, mirin, soy sauce and sugar in pan

Step 1 - Chop spring onion and make sauce

  • Chop spring onions and set aside.
  • In a pan on medium heat, boil 1 cup water, 2 Tbsp cooking sake, 4 Tbsp mirin, 4 Tbsp light soy sauce, 2 Tbsp sugar and ginger until sugar is dissolved.
Beef slices, onion into sauce

Step 2 - Add yellow onions and beef slice

  • Once boiling, add in yellow onion slices and let it cook for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and mix in beef slices.
    Substitute beef with cooked pork or chicken slices.

Plate and serve!

Beef and onion with sauce on rice

In the serving bowls, place a bed of Japanese steamed rice and place beef slices and yellow onions over the rice. Drizzle sauce over the beef slices,garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot.
