Cucur Udang
Try this quick and easy prawn fritters recipe by Ili Sulaiman from Home Cooked: Malaysia.

  • Yield 2 servings
  • 250 grams Flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Sea salt
  • 300 millilitres Water
  • 1 clove Garlic, chopped
  • 100 grams dried Shrimps, soaked in water and chopped
  • 100 grams Spring onions, cut into 2cm pieces
  • 100 grams Bean sprouts, rinsed and drained
  • 150 grams peeled Prawns, coarsely chopped
  • ½ Red chilli, deseeded and sliced thinly
  • Oil for frying
  • Chilli sauce or ketchup for dipping
  1. In a big mixing bowl, add flour, baking powder, salt, turmeric powder and 50-100ml water. Mix well until the mixture is thick but with no lumps
  2. Add minced garlic, dried shrimps, red chilli and spring onions. Mix it well
  3. Add minced prawns and bean sprouts. Fold in the mixture
  4. In a pot or deep wok, add oil for frying and heat up. Slowly drop 1 table spoon of mixture and fry until brown
  5. Remove and set aside to drain. Serve with ketchup or chilli sauce
