Hummus with Spiced Meat Wrap
Serve up this fast and simple wrap recipe by Thevi Kulendran.

  • Yield 4 to 5 servings
  • Hummus:
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 1-2 tablespoons cold water
  • Salt and pepper
  • Spiced Meat:
  • 400g minced lamb or beef (with a little fat)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (add more if you like it spicier)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • To assemble wrap:
  • Wholegrain wrap
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Chopped onions
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Toasted pine nuts
  • Extra virgin olive oil 
  1. Hummus:
  2. In a food processor, mince the garlic. Then add the drained chickpeas, extra virgin olive oil, ground cumin, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Blend till smooth. Add the cold water and continue blending till it becomes creamy. 
  1. Spiced Meat:
  2. Heat some oil and sauté onions till soft and translucent. Add the minced meat and cook till evenly browned. Then add the spices - garlic powder, ground cumin, chili powder, garam masala, salt and pepper. Continue cooking until meat is brown and caramelized. Season to taste.
  1. On a wrap:
  2. Spread some Hummus, followed by some spiced meat, chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro and pine nuts. Drizzle with more extra virgin olive oil.
