  • 1 bottles Merlot
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • Zest of 1 Orange
  • 2 Sichuan Peppercorns, crushed
  • 2 Cardamom pods, crushed
  • One Cinnamon stick
  • 1 Star anise
  • 3 Cloves
Method

Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan. Slowly simmer over medium-low hat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Strain wine through a sieve, discarding solids. Serve hot
