Supas (Turmeric Rice)

  • 2 cups Rice
  • ½ cup Malagkit [Sticky] rice
  • 5 tablespoons Garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup Pork belly (minced)
  • 5 pieces Turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • Water
  1. Wash and peel the fresh turmeric then pound using the mortar and pestle. Remove and place in a bowl then add 3 cups of water , strain and set aside
  2. In a pot, render the pork and cook until lightly brown
  3. Add the garlic and sauté until golden brown
  4. Add the turmeric juice and let it boil
  5. Combine rice and malagkit rice, then washed it properly
  6. Add the washed rice the mix it well and let it boil
  7. Occasionally stir to prevent bottom from burning
  8. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer to 15-25 minutes or until cooked
  9. Served with the kabaya leaves
