Tempeh and Tofu Stir Fried in Chilli

  • 1 packet Tempeh
  • 200 grams Firm Tofu
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 6 Shallots
  • 4 Red chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 cup Cooking oil
  • Salt and Sugar to taste
  • 1 cup Water
  • ¼ cup roasted ground Peanuts (optional)
  1. Blitz shallot, garlic and chilli until it becomes a paste
  2. In a bowl, add chopped tempeh, a sprinkle of salt and turmeric powder. Mix well
  3. Do the same with the firm tofu
  4. In a wok, add oil and fry tempeh and tofu until golden brown. Set aside. If you wish not to fry the tempeh and tofu, you can add a bit of oil to the marinade, place them onto a baking tray and bake in the oven at 170C for about 10 - 12 minutes until golden brown
  5. In a pan, add some oil and fry blended ingredients for at least 2 -3 minutes before adding water. Keep frying and adjust taste by adding salt and sugar
  6. Cook until the oil separates from the sambal
  7. Fold in tempeh, tofu and ground peanuts until combined. Serve with hot rice
