Sweet Black Sesame Soup
An traditional Chinese dessert, this sweet black soup is popular in Southeast Asia and East Asia.

Step 1 - Blend black sesame rice mixture
- Using a blender or mortar and pestle, grind the soaked black rice with 6 Tbsp sesame powder and 1 cup water into a fine paste.
- Set aside.
The finer the sesame powder you use, the smoother the dessert you’ll get.
Step 2 - Boil black sesame soup
- First, in a large pot on medium heat, add the remaining 4 cups of water and bring to a boil.
- Next, add the rice paste into the pot of boiling water and keep stirring.
- Next, add rock sugar.
- Bring heat to low and continue to simmer for 20 minutes
In traditional Chinese medicine, black sesame is considered to be healthy. Rich in vitamin B and iron, it is rumored to prevent gray hair!
Garnish and serve!
Once cooked, serve in a bowl, garnish with 1 Tbsp roasted sesame powder and whipped cream. Serve hot!
