Ingredients

Originally hailing from Sichuan, China, this mouthwatering tofu dish is served with a juicy meat and mushroom topping.

Let's start cooking!

Stir-fry mushroom and minced pork

Step 1- Cook mushrooms and pork

  • In a pan on medium heat, add 1 Tbsp vegetable oil and fry garlic until fragrant.

  • Add the pork and mushrooms and stir-fry with the garlic.

  • Continue to stir-fry the meat until it stops clumping together.

    For more flavor, marinate the meat in 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tsp dark soy sauce and ½ tsp white pepper for about half an hour, then cook the meat.
  • In a ramekin, add 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tsp dark soy sauce and ½ tsp white pepper.

  • Add the mix to the pan and stir, breaking up the white pepper.

  • Continue to stir-fry for 1 more minute, then remove from heat and set aside.

Add stir-fried mushroom and minced pork on tofu on a porcelain plate

Step 2- Steam tofu

  • Place tofu on a plate and top with pork and mushroom.
  • Steam the tofu for about 3 minutes, then pour the meat sauce over the tofu.
    For the more adventurous, try deep frying the tofu instead of steaming for a unique texture.

Garnish and Serve!
