This season, Anthony Bourdain, takes viewers to 20 new destinations that will surprise and defy his expectations -for better or for worse. From America to South East Asia, Bourdain will treat viewers to a food filled journey like no other, but as usual, Bourdain will bring his intellectual curiosity, empathy, wit and a boundless appetite to every location he visits.

Anthony Bourdain was born on June 25, 1956. After his article “Don’t Read Before Eating This” appeared in The New Yorker in 1997, Bourdain moved from one high-profile culinary project to the next, including TV shows A Cook’s Tour and Anthony Bourdain: No Reservation. He has also written several books, including Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly.
Bourdain’s mom was a copy editor and his dad, a music executive. Naturally, Anthony developed a devotion to literature and rock music. Growing up in suburban New Jersey, Bourdain eventually attended Vassar College for two years and then graduated from the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America in 1978.
He has worked in various restaurants including Supper Club, One Fifth Avenue, and Sullivan’s in New York for years before finally getting the position of executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in 1998.
Bourdain is currently married to Ottavia Busia and has a daughter, Ariane.
